Why $87K Keeps Rejecting Bitcoin and the 200 EMA Level That Matters Now

October 11, 2026

Bitcoin has failed to hold above $87,000 and has slipped back to about $83,000 (Oct 11, 2026). Here is what that tells us and what to watch next.

WHAT HAPPENED

– On Oct 6, BTC traded around $85,500 to $85,800 after failing again to break above $87,000.
– Since then it has pulled back toward $83,000.
– Over the past week it moved between roughly $80,400 and $86,900.
– One analysis places the 200 EMA just below $83,700, so price is now sitting close to that line.

WHY A REPEATED REJECTION MATTERS

1. When price keeps getting rejected at the same level, sellers are defending it. Each failed attempt shows buyers are not strong enough yet.
2. A failed breakout often leads to a pullback toward the nearest support, which is what we saw this week.
3. Traders who bought the breakout get trapped. Their stop losses can add to selling when price falls back.

LEVELS TO WATCH (approximate zones)

Resistance: about $83,700, then $85,600, then $87,000.
Support: about $82,300 (floor of the recent sideways box), then $80,400 (recent low) and $80,000 (round number).
Deeper support some analysts mark: $76,500 to $78,000.

WHAT WOULD CHANGE THE PICTURE

– Bullish: a daily close above $83,700, then above $85,600, shows buyers taking back control. A daily close above $87,000 would be the first real sign the rejection is over.
– Bearish: a daily close below $82,300 puts the $80,000 area back in play. Below $80,000, deeper support is next and risk is higher.

HOW TO USE THIS

– Do not buy only because price touches $87,000 again. Wait for a daily close above it.
– Do not short only because price touches support. Wait for a close below it.
– Keep position size small and use a stop loss. Avoid heavy leverage.
