Bitcoin is trading near $83,000 (Oct 11, 2026). Over the past week it moved between roughly $80,400 and $86,900, so the market is consolidating rather than trending. Here is a simple way to read it.
WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK
– BTC dropped from about $85,700 to the low $82,000s during a sell-off, then steadied.
– More than $1 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated during the week.
– Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw outflows earlier in the week, with inflows returning more recently.
– Rising US Treasury yields and expectations of further Fed tightening are weighing on risk assets.
– BTC is still about 34% below its all-time high of about $126,200 (Oct 2025).
– ETH is near $2,500.
LEVELS TRADERS ARE WATCHING
– Support: around $80,000 to $80,400 (the weekly low).
– Resistance: around $84,000, then about $86,900 (the weekly high).
– $82,800 is a short-term level analysts are watching.
HOW TO READ A RANGE
1. When price keeps bouncing between two levels, the market is waiting for a reason to move. Do not force a trend that is not there.
2. A bounce from support or a rejection at resistance is only a signal if a candle confirms it.
3. A breakout is more reliable when a candle closes beyond the level, not just a quick wick. Many breakouts fail and snap back into the range.
4. Plan before the move: where is your stop, where is your target, and is the reward at least 2x the risk?
TWO SIMPLE SCENARIOS (not predictions)
– If price closes above $84,000 and holds, buyers are gaining control and the $86,000 to $87,000 area becomes the next level to watch.
– If price closes below $80,000, the range support has failed and the market could move lower. Risk is higher in that case.
Neither is guaranteed. Until one level breaks, the range is the base case.
WHAT TO DO IN THE MEANTIME
– Keep position size small while direction is unclear.
– Avoid heavy leverage. This week's liquidations show how fast it can go wrong.
– Wait for a confirmed close, not a wick.
